When summer rolls around so do the summer storms. Rain and wet weather effect on our lives whether it be through floods and closures, or not being able to go for that afternoon swim! But we aren’t the only ones effected by the rain.
Ants, Cockroaches, and Spiders
Ants in wet weather either like to burrow in their nests well below the ground to take refuge or look for a nice and cost cubby either under a roof or awning. Cockroaches and spiders hate the rain and will try to find shelter at all costs. Sometimes this means looking for higher ground (or in some cases a door frame) but most of the time it means they try to find their way into your home or garages. This way they can be safe and not swept away in the water.
Termites
For termites…well the rain means there is an abundance of their favourite resource, water. It’s a sign to start moving. They send out their young teenagers (otherwise known as flying termites) to forage and find new places to nest. Attracted to high moisture areas, termite foragers will seek a water source with food nearby.
What does this mean for you?
These reasons are why we still operate come rain or shine.
Making sure that you are partially protected from cockroaches, ants, and spiders by spraying the inside of your home is vital when it comes to wet weather. By treating the inside of your home it means that as they search for shelter from the rain they will be exposed to our chemical and die. Meaning insects aren’t able to nest and breed (we’re looking at you huntsman spiders). This prevents large infestations of your home later on when the rain stops. The same goes for termite inspections. You want to make sure that the only water near a food source is the rain outside. Keeping up with inspections allows you to monitor the moisture levels in your walls and pick up if termites are nesting in your home.
